Job Purpose and Overview

With minimal supervision, the Procurement Finance Controller facilitates monthly and quarterly forecasting, financial reporting, the annual budgeting process, forecasting of raw materials, and analysis of all aspects of procurement spending.  They collaborate and engage with Procurement and Risk Management to support planning and strategic decision-making by identifying, maintaining, and evaluating information for enhanced financial visibility.

 

This is a remote opportunity with travel up to 20%. The position requires attendance at a one-week onsite training session in Jackson, Michigan, during the first week of employment.

 

What will you do as a Procurement Finance Controller at Dawn Foods? 

  • Prepares monthly financial reports with support from procurement by collecting, formatting, analyzing, and explaining information (PPV report, GM impact report, Purchase discount report)
  • In-depth PPV analysis by line & category
  • In-depth value tracking, strategically and tactically maximizing the value generation of our Accelerator value case across multiple lines of the P&L, including manufacturing and buy/sell.
  • Reviews and understands standard costs provided by Procurement, instrumental in ensuring accuracy of standard costs in SAP for budget and subsequent cost rolls including budgeting & forecasting.
  • Collaborates with Procurement using Demand Plan (Blue Yonder) to build reporting capabilities to accurately forecast raw material needs leading to strategic coverage and hedging decisions.
  • Collaborate with Procurement to manage back-to-back customer contracts and time-based commitments for strategic volume manufacturing and buy/sell business (volume estimation, booking and confirmation communications, monthly consumption reporting)
  • Closely collaborates and is immersed with Commercial Finance on an ongoing basis to understand dynamic market business opportunities and their alignment with procurement needs
  • Provides a monthly view of contractual forecast coverage for a significant number of commodities. Level of detail to include monitoring open contracts, inventory, open orders, and future forecasts. Procurement Analysts handle raw material contracting and forecasting.
  • Partners with the procurement department in the formulation of their operating expenses during the budget process
  • Works with Process to Pay business process leader to develop optimal processes, policies & procedures.
  • Partners on strategic risk management & development of risk management framework
  • Assists procurement team with designing templates and processes to aid in contracting raw materials as part of RFPs.
  • Respond to financial inquiries from the procurement department by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial and business-related studies as management requests.
  • Provides support to Procurement, Finance, and R&D on developing ad-hoc analysis.
  • Work with broader BI team to develop strategies to improve overall department effectiveness and efficiency; drive improved data quality and consistency across all data solutions.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Demonstrate the "Dawn Values" of Team Dawn and support the Dawn Circle of Excellence. 

 

What Does It Take to be a Procurement Finance Controller at Dawn Foods?  

Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.  

  • High School or GED is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in finance and/or procurement is required.
  • If only finance experience, experience supporting procurement is required.
  • Prioritize, work through interruptions, and multi-task to meet goals and timelines.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, BI, SAP, and financial modeling
  • Strong work ethic, judgment, diplomacy, and collaboration skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with hedging and hedge accounting principles

Compensation Range:

$90,960 - $145,540 with bonus incentive.
