Job Purpose and Overview
The Senior Director FSQA is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the development, implementation, and optimization of compliance, food safety standards, quality management and audit process activities at Dawn Foods. This position is responsible for overseeing and enhancing our organization’s food safety programs, ensuring compliance with all federal and local regulatory standards, maintaining high-quality standards, and overseeing internal and external audits. As a Senior Leader on the team, this role requires an elevated level of expertise, prior leadership experience, technical proficiency in food safety and compliance, quality management and audit processes. This position is responsible for the coaching, supervision, and development of several direct reports.
The Sr. Director, Food Safety & Quality Assurance will provide oversight to all Corporate Quality and Plant Quality managers. Additionally, this role will provide leadership to the following functions: plant quality, supplier quality, distribution quality, customer complaints, FSQA based audits, Dawn Manufacturing, Dawn Distribution (buy/sell), and quality continuous improvement.
This is a remote position with 25-50% travel.

Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the company’s overall food safety, quality, and audit strategies in alignment with short-term and long-term business priorities.
- Provide strategic direction and guidance to cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Drives accountability and follow-through with all customer-related concerns, emphasizing on providing an efficient, quick resolution and short response time to customers.
- Proven leadership, communication, and diplomacy skills necessary to effect evolutionary change in the Dawn quality processes. Developed people leader who motivates teams and individuals.
Food Safety and Quality Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust food safety and quality management systems to ensure compliance with applicable regulation, standards, and certifications (FDA, HAACP, GFSI, ISO, etc.).
- Develops new methods and tools to enhance Dawn’s food safety and quality management processes. Required ability to be highly effective at change management to drive improvement across the North American Quality Team.
- Creates and maintains methods for establishing project priorities, defining metrics, and tracking food safety and quality project progress.
- Ability to create a Culture of Quality throughout the organization.
- Responsible for setting and ensuring we hit our Quality goals (First Pass Quality), Customer Complaint rate, etc. and building a culture of continuous improvement.
Food Safety Regulatory Compliance
- Stay updated on relevant food safety regulations, industry trends, and emerging technologies, and ensure the organization’s compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Interact with regulatory agencies, auditors, and certification bodies to address inquiries, inspections, and audits.
Auditing and Product Inspections
- Review results and action plans associated with third-party audits and inspections, including customer audits, regulatory inspections, and certification audits.
Team Management and Development
- Lead and manage a team of food safety, quality and audit professionals providing mentorship, coaching and development opportunities to ensure high-quality talent within the team.
What Does It Take to be a Sr. Director, Food Safety & Quality Assurance at Dawn Foods?
Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.
- Bachelor’s degree required: Technical background such as Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Biological Science, or related fields preferred.
- Extensive experience (minimum 15 years) in food safety, quality assurance and audit roles within the CPG / Food Industry.
- Working in B2B, CPG, or other food background required.
- An understanding of financial business scope and prior budgetary accountability required.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulation, industry standards and certification programs (SQF, BRC, FSSC 220000, etc.).
- Proven record of accomplishment of developing and implementing successful food safety and quality management systems.
- Extensive experience utilizing Microsoft Project and SharePoint.
- Excellent leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Food Safety Professions (CFSP) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) are a plus but not required.

Compensation Range:
$137,440 - $240,520
