Job Purpose and Overview

The Strategic Sourcing Manager I works under general supervision and is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that drive value across assigned categories. This role identifies and leverages cost‑saving opportunities, negotiates and manages contracts, and cultivates strong supplier relationships. In close partnership with internal stakeholders, the Strategic Sourcing Manager I helps define standards, mitigate risk, and deliver optimized sourcing outcomes that support Dawn Food Products’ overall business objectives.

 

This position is eligible for remote work, with a preference for candidates located within the Eastern or Central time zones. Candidates who are local to our home office in Jackson may work in a hybrid arrangement, with an expectation of being onsite approximately three days per month. This role also requires up to 25% travel based on business needs.

 

What You’ll Do as a Strategic Sourcing Manager I- Indirect Spend at Dawn Foods? 

  • Negotiate and manage contracts under general supervision, ensuring compliance, managing risk, and driving productivity, quality, and service.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors on behalf of Dawn Foods.
  • Develop, execute, and evaluate RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs to support sourcing decisions.
  • Manage vendor relationships and monitor supplier KPIs.
  • Partners with cross-functional teams, including Packaging Engineering, R&D, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement Finance, Marketing, and Commercial.
  • Create and adjust sourcing strategies to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks; develop clear communications and presentations for senior leadership.
  • Extract, clean, and validate data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy.
  • Analyze datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities that inform strategic decisions.
  • Build reports, dashboards, and analytical models to deliver actionable insights.
  • Translate business needs into analytical questions and provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Maintain data integrity through quality checks and issue resolution.
  • Solve complex problems and present fact-based solutions.
  • Serve as the internal and external subject-matter expert for assigned procurement categories.
  • Prioritize effectively to optimize team and personal performance.
  • Foster creativity within the team to generate innovative sourcing solutions and strategic opportunities.
  • Demonstrate Dawn Values and support the Circle of Excellence.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

What Does It Take to be a Strategic Sourcing Manager I- Indirect Spend at Dawn Foods?   

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field, with 8 years of related work experience, or 12 years of related work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 3 years of experience managing personnel, serving in a lead role, or possessing training/experience that cultivates these skills.
  • Comfortable collaborating with employees at all organizational levels
  • Potential to expand portfolio scope into other related areas.
  • Broad experience in various indirect categories, or specialized proficiency in one category with the desire to grow into others.
  • Process-orientated facilitator of full Strategic Sourcing bid & negotiation process (RFI, RFQ, & award)
  • Strong negotiation, strategic thinking, and communications skills; Ability to work cross-functionally with various departments.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to identify and initiate opportunities for improvement
  • Knowledge of general supply chain processes, procedures, and inventory management concepts is required. Strong Financial understanding of distribution and manufacturing a plus.
  • Proficiency with data extraction using ERP systems.
  • Proficiency with EXCEL, ACCESS, PowerPoint, and MS Project; SAP experience preferred.

Compensation Range:

$93,240 – 149,180 with bonus incentive
