Job Purpose and Overview

The Operations Specialist provides critical crossfunctional support within the food manufacturing facility. This role serves as the primary backup for Purchasing, Scheduling, and Production Supervision maintaining continuity during planned absences, when not covering these functions, the Operations Specialist leads the facility’s Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives, driving efficiency, accuracy, and process optimization across all operational areas.

 

Shift Schedule: Tuesday- Saturday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm (until finished)

 

This will be an on-site role at our Burlington Plant – 4370 Harvester Road, Burlington

 

What will you do as an Operations Specialist at Dawn Foods? 

  • Support Purchasing by managing raw material/packaging orders, monitoring inventory, and resolving supplier issues.
  • Scheduling by creating and adjusting production schedules based on demand, materials, labor, and capacity.
  • Support Production Supervision by overseeing shift operations, ensuring safety/quality standards, leading meetings, and addressing issues.
  • Support the warehouse when required.
  • Lead CI projects focused on throughput improvement, waste reduction, cost savings, and process standardization.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events, root cause analysis (RCA), and process mapping activities.
  • Gather and analyze operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and implement 5S and Lean Manufacturing best practices.
  • Partner with crossfunctional teams to execute improvement initiatives and track results.
  • Participate in plant safety initiatives and ensure adherence to food safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Support training and onboarding of staff in operational processes.
  • Assist with special projects and maintain competency across supported roles.

 

What Does It Take to be an Operations Specialist at Dawn Foods?

Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.  

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required. Bachelors preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations; preferably within food manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with the capacity to address operational issues effectively.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other CI tools. Certification preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to lead teams, influence change, and drive results across the facility.
  • Experience in purchasing, scheduling, production supervision, or CI methodologies preferred.
  • Forklift experience preferred.

  • Will be exposed to a physical environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements most of the workday.

Compensation Range: 

SG7 ($71,550 - $89,440 - $107,330) with a 5% target bonus opportunity.
