Job Purpose and Overview
This position is accountable for the execution of Dawn’s Safety & Environmental strategy aligned to the following functions: Manufacturing, Warehouse, Environmental Control, Engineering, Office, and Quality. The position is responsible for developing and maintaining a culture that strives for continuous improvement of all aspects of Dawn’s safety and environmental programs/policies. It is imperative that this position work closely with the site management, safety committee, and front-line team members to drive safety and environmental compliance. This position is accountable for ensuring that Dawn enhances safety and environmental programs and performance throughout the facility; both internally and externally and consistently leverages best practices.
Shift Schedule: This is a Monday–Friday day shift position supporting a 24-hour manufacturing facility. Occasional off-shift and weekend on-call availability will be required.
What will you do as an EHS Manager at Dawn Foods?
- Accountable for creating an internal environment “where people feel valued” and ensure that all Team Members have a clean, safe & healthy environment.
- Champion the philosophy and engagement of a 24/7 Safety Culture
- Responsible for the development, implementation and the management of safety and environmental programs, policies, and training to ensure compliance with company policies and government mandated programs.
- Create and maintain OSHA logs, training, and written safety programs for facility.
- Maintain and educate the team on the site-specific environmental requirements.
- Manage environmental programs such as Air Permit, SWPPP (storm water), SPCC (spill prevention), In-Direct discharge Permit, Tier II, Universal Waste management, and SARA Title III Hazardous Material to ensure timely and accurate reports to the EPA and/or coinciding regulatory body.
- Assist with compliance to applicable NFPA and insurance provider property recommendations (i.e., combustible dust, storage of flammable liquids and property loss prevention inspections)
- Conduct documented investigations including root cause analysis and corrective actions for incident or near miss events to prevent recurrence.
- Share best practices and actions with the manufacturing organization.
- Facilitate safety training program for onboarding, new content, and refresher courses
- Mentor EHS Committee members through inspections, observations and assessments.
- Initiate improvements to achieve EHS targets & objectives.
- Reduction/elimination of hazards to improve ways of working.
- Monitor leading and lagging indicators to drive reduction in injury & illness rates.
- Manage compliance to environmental program requirements
- Site responsibility of workers' compensation claims in partnership with the Worker’s Comp corporate team.
- Align to budget for EHS programs
- Lead and/or support internal and external audits to ensure compliance with OSHA (MIOSHA), EPA (EGLE), FDA (MDARD), and IFS standards.
- Manage DOT compliance with shipment of hazardous materials.
- Provide safety and environmental guidance to facility capital and CI projects
- Understand and promote the philosophies and policies of Dawn Food Products, Inc.

What Does It Take to be an EHS Manager at Dawn Foods?
Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.
- High School diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & safety, Engineering, or Business preferred
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required
- Minimum 2 years in a leadership role managing Environmental, Health, & Safety programs
- Proven experience in an EHS position within manufacturing or operations environment preferred
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations
- Proven record of developing, refining and training EHS procedures
- Proficient with computers, EHS programs and Microsoft Office programs
- Flexibility to support all departments and department leads in a 24/7 operating facility
- Safety-related professional certifications desired
- Ability to work and engage with all levels of stakeholders

- Temperature fluctuates with the season – colder during the winter/warmer during the summer
- Working around heavy machinery – hearing protection required in production area
- Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, wheat, and soy.

Compensation Range
$90,960 - $145,540
