Job Purpose and Overview
The Maintenance Manager serves as a subject matter expert and resource on projects that require advanced technical knowledge, in addition to ensuring that the plant equipment is always operational and in safe working condition, to prevent production down time. The coordination efforts consist of both inside maintenance and outside contractors. This position is also responsible for the lab and office equipment and for the building structure, parking lots and outside grounds. The Maintenance Manager works under limited supervision to lead and coordinate the activities of the local Engineering/Maintenance Department to design, process, develop, produce, improve, and test components and systems within Dawn’s manufacturing operations.
What will you do as a Maintenance Manager at Dawn Foods?
- Provides planning, direction, and coordination for all engineering and maintenance activities to achieve optimal use of Team Members, equipment, and materials to include the maintenance of buildings, grounds and electrical.
- Provides oversight to project teams and activities during the development of new products, equipment, and other large-scale projects for the regional operations.
- Work with Quality and IFS – collaboration and scheduling etc.
- Ensures all related functions are fulfilling the necessary requirements and tracking towards scheduled completion.
- Collaborates with the necessary members of the team to develop and modify products in an organized and expedient manner.
- Completes duties within overall project schedules and budgets.
- Manage pro-active maintenance to include all equipment and machinery in the plant. Keep equipment and machinery in safe working condition
- Work safely and maintain a safe work environment following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety practices
- Work with workforce on continuous improvement to plant equipment and practices in cost, quality, service, and safety. Identify and execute opportunities to improve plant equipment
- Facilitate a safe work environment through auditing and inspecting areas for safety hazards and observing team member safe work habits. Corrects all OSHA violations and potential hazards in a timely manner.
- Manage the development of the maintenance staff
- Manage maintenance and repair spending within budget levels, to include capital projects
- Exposure to and experience with GMP, FDA Standards, International Food Standard (IFS), American Institute of Baking (AIB) standards, understand Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) programs, OSHA standards and plant safety programs
- Adhere to all company safety policies and plant policies and procedures
- Responsible for the development and implementation of programs and procedures to maximize production, minimize waste, increase capacity and efficiencies, and maintain product quality and integrity
- Supports the D.O.M.E. Pillars and by leading and sponsoring FI Teams for the continued improvement of operations
- Constantly evaluates team performance to efficiently coordinate the necessary resources for schedule attainment
- Coaches, teaches, coordinates, and evaluates programs for team members to develop skills advantageous to the company’s needs and goals
- Operational responsibilities include Controlling Costs in:
- Raw ingredients – Packaging and Ingredients
- Direct Labor – Staffing Levels and OT
- Operating Expenses including Overhead Spend
- Works closely with the Maintenance Team to coordinate improvement projects (Capital and Local Budget)
- Promotes and facilitates safe work practices at all times. Takes appropriate actions to ensure the safety of all Dawn team members.
- Other duties as assigned by plant leadership

What Does It Take to be a Maintenance Manager at Dawn Foods?
Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or similar discipline OR 10 years related experience within a manufacturing facility.
- Food industry experience is preferred.
- 5-7 years of managerial experiences with progressive responsibilities.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities within structured timeframes.
- Good verbal and written communication skills essential, good computer skills essential
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Must be able to work in an environment where various allergens, including, but not limited to nuts, coconuts, and other foods are received as shipments, mixed in ingredients, used as toppings, or baked into products. This will fluctuate based on business needs.

Compensation: $88,750 to $142,000 with a potential annual bonus
