Shift Schedule:

  • Monday – Saturday, with 1 day off throughout the week.  Working a minimum of four (4) shifts, preferably five (5) shifts each week.
  • Individuals should be flexible to accommodate overtime needs in this role.
  • 4:25am – 4:30pm (12 hour shift)

 

Job Purpose and Overview

As a Material Handler you will work with production teams and move ingredients throughout the production environment.

What Does It Take to be a Material Handler at Dawn Foods? 

Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.  

  • Six months experience operating a forklift, prefer a Class 2 or Class 3 standup forklift or fast jack, but any forklift experience will qualify.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Forklift certified is helpful, and must be able to become certified

 

What You'll Do as a Material Handler: 

  • Operate forklift, pallet jack and fast jack to move ingredients throughout the production environment
  • Use SAP/entry to locate ingredients and move product
  • Utilize math skills to count material (able to use calculator)
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate the “Dawn Values” of Team Dawn and supports the Circle of Excellence.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to grasp, move, or utilize objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.  The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to use sensory perception for quality measurement of products.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move 25 pounds.
  • The employee will be required to wear PPE such as: safety shoes, ear plugs, safety glasses, hair net/beard net and mask.
  • The facility is not climate controlled, employee will drive a forklift outside to shuttle material from one building to another.

 

Note: The level of physical effort may vary from site to site and in some cases be greater or lesser than documented here.  

 

Required PPE

  • Non-slip shoes
  • Gloves
  • Hair Net
  • Beard Net (if needed)
  • Safety googles/ safety ear protection
  • Additional PPE may be required
