Dawn Inspire Internship Program interns will benefit from:

The internship will consist of projects and assignments that will allow for the developmental and real-world application of the skills learned thus far in your educational background. The experience will allow the intern to understand the requirements of working in general accounting and commercial finance at a large multinational company.
Work Eligibility & Travel Requirements: Hybrid - 3 days a week on-site at our at our Jackson, Michigan, Home Office.
Interns will be required to be on-site at the Corporate Jackson office from May 18 - May 21 for onboarding, and from August 4 - 7 for final presentations. These are mandatory in-person participation dates for the internship program.
What Does It Take to be a Accounting & Finance Intern at Dawn Foods?
Below are the minimum qualifications for the Dawn Inspire Internship Program.
- Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in either Finance or Accounting.
- The candidate must be entering their junior year or beyond.
- Current academic status must reflect good performance in relation to institutional academic standards.
- Strong interest in the industry or field related to the internship.
- Experience with Microsoft excel and basic functions such as pivot tables and vlookups.
- Basic knowledge of accounting, including debits, credits, financial statement interpretation/reviews, and other Microsoft office products.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Adaptability and willingness to embrace feedback and eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
What Will Set You Apart?
- Ability to communicate proactively on work status, ask questions, take notes, and execute on assigned workload.
- Takes initiative and executes tasks, while seeking support as needed.
- Can problem-solve and present recommendations and solutions to problems.
- While not a requirement, candidates who have the confidence to address coworkers and possess public speaking abilities tend to do well in the field.
- A drive for continued education, either through certifications such as obtaining your CPA license and/or intentions for a master’s degree.
What You'll Do as an Accounting & Finance Intern
- Participate in a rotational program between North American Finance and Corporate Accounting teams.
- Spend 6 weeks in Commercial Finance, assisting with:
- Financial analysis of customer pricing and margin health.
- New business pricing and support.
- Process improvement projects.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sales and costing teams.
- Spend 6 weeks in the Global Controller’s group within Corporate Accounting, gaining experience in:
- Month-end close process and financial reporting.
- Preparing journal entries, accruals, and technical accounting memos.
- Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Project work on priorities like balance sheet reconciliations, software implementation, and system enhancements.
- Apply educational knowledge to real-world finance and accounting tasks in a multinational company.
- Develop understanding of accounting and commercial finance operations.

Compensation
Undergraduate - $26/hr
Graduate - $28/hr
