Job Purpose and Overview
The Baker will support the kitchen team by preparing a variety of baked goods, including cupcakes, pies, cookies, donuts, and cakes. Key responsibilities include scaling ingredients, mixing, frying, baking, and decorating pastries. This role also involves assisting with receiving and organizing deliveries, and maintaining clean, organized storage and work areas. The Baker is expected to follow all local health and sanitation regulations to ensure a safe and hygienic work environment.
Work Eligibility & Travel Requirements: This role is onsite at the Dawn Foods Innovation Studio in Jackson, MI. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Some flexibility is needed for occasional early mornings, events, or other business needs.
What will you do as a Baker at Dawn Foods?
- Finish products (e.g., fills or ices donuts or pastries, decorates cakes or cupcakes)
- Bake products (e.g., cakes, laminated doughs, pastries, and/or other baked goods)
- Frying products (e.g., donuts, pastries)
- Operate scales, commercial mixers, ovens, proof boxes, and other professional bakery equipment coolers
- Keep the working area (kitchen, demonstration, food storage areas, and freezers, etc) in a clean, presentable, and hygienic condition, meeting all legal and company standards
- Assists in cleaning duties, including but not limited to dishes, sweeping, mopping, and helping to keep the bakery clean
- Attend department meetings as required.

What Does It Take to be a Baker at Dawn Foods?
Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A Certificate or Associate's degree in Baking and Pastry Arts is preferred.
- Will accept a minimum of 2 years of professional bakery, restaurant, hotel, or other back-of-the-house kitchen/hospitality business experience in a bakery/pastry capacity in lieu of a baking and pastry arts certificate or degree.
- ServSafe or other equivalent food safety certificate, or willingness to learn.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

- This is an on-site position at the Innovation Studio in Jackson, MI. The work will take place in a professional bakery and R&D lab environment.

Compensation
$35,510 - $53,260 with bonus eligibility
