Dawn’s Inspire Internship Program offers students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the dynamic world of the Global Bakery Industry. Work Eligibility & Travel Requirements: Hybrid- 3 days a week in office at our Jackson, Michigan Corporate Office.

 

Interns will be required to be onsite at the Corporate Jackson office from May 19 - May 22 for onboarding, and from August 6 - 8 for final presentations. These are mandatory participation dates for the internship program.

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree, with an interest in working in the Consumer Product Goods or Food industry. Current academic status must reflect good performance in relation to institutional academic standards.
  • Strong interest in the industry or field related to the internship.
  • Basic knowledge of relevant concepts, principles, and tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Adaptability and willingness to embrace feedback and eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.

What You'll Do as an Intern

  • Conduct research on assigned topics and present findings to the team.
  • Collaborate with team members to brainstorm ideas and contribute to problem-solving efforts.

  • Specific projects and areas of work in each functional area are note below:

 

Supply Chain Finance:

  • Support the launch of the 2025 NA wide fixed asset review. Support with building up of the necessary data set, update the instructions on how to the process, do the kickoff session with all Distribution Centers, and work with 1 or 2 Distribution Centers directly.
    • Purpose: Understand fixed asset register, learn about the process to review fixed assets, understand the importance of basic excel skills, get insights into all 22 Distribution Centers.
  • Participate in one surprise inventory stock counts at a Distribution Center. Based on outcome participate with the local team in discussions on how to increase inventory accuracy.
    • Purpose: Deep dive into how a Distribution Center operates and how improvements are being addressed.
    • My NA Supply Chain Finance Cost Center pays for the travel.
  • Learn to extract some repetitive inventory related standard reports which we do today. Do some high level analysis of pain points to discuss together with the NA Supply Chain Finance team. Send extracted reports and high-level analysis to the Distribution Center Leaders.
    • Learn about specific aspects of information generation, how data should be structured and to make the right decisions fast (which includes the need to automate the generation of information). Learn doing some high-level analysis, learn about operational aspects of how inventory is being moved across the network, learn about how cash is “invested” into inventory,” pick up on how important solid excel/macro skills are for somebody wanting to do a career in Finance.

Tax:

  • Shadow and assist in the preparation of the monthly Sales & Use tax returns.
  • Research and validate Sales Tax Exemption Certificates
  • Assist in the preparation of State Income Tax Returns, including apportionment data, including fixed assets, depreciation, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of state income tax estimates.
  • Assist in the preparation of the international portion of US tax return, Form 5471’s.
  • Research and summarize a position on an open tax issue.

 

Treasury:

  • Assist and shadow in the completion of the 13 Week Cash Flow Forecast, including assisting in the European Cash Flow forecast.
  • Process wire transfer payments via the on-line banking platforms and systems.
  • Review and help renew loan documents with the bank or update/manage inter-company loan documents.
  • Assist/Review the monthly bank deck and covenant calculation (model).

 

Internal Audit (June 30th – July 18th):

  • Assist and shadow IA of Detroit DC
  • Assist and shadow IA of Jackson Mfg. plant.
  • Perform testing procedures and each document results.
  • Assist in development of audit plan.

  • Ability to work in a Professional office environment 5 days per week.
  • Team Member must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Team member must be able to sit at a desk or walk around a facility throughout the day to support Operations and our Customers.

Compensation:

Undergraduate - $25/hr

Graduate - $27/hr
