Dawn’s Inspire Internship Program offers students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the dynamic world of the Global Bakery Industry. With over 100 years of expertise, Dawn provides a platform for interns to experience our vibrant company culture, embrace our core values, and gain valuable knowledge for their future careers. Maintenance Coordinator Intern will work directly with the Jackson Manufacturing Maintenance team to ensure preventative maintenance tasks are scheduled efficiently, parts inventory is properly cataloged and monitored.

Dawn Inspire Internship Program interns will benefit from:

Work Eligibility & Travel Requirements: This is a full-time position, working on-site out of our Jackson, Michigan Manufacturing site.  

Interns will be required to be onsite at the Corporate Jackson office from May 19 - May 22 for onboarding, and from August 6 - 8 for final presentations. These are mandatory participation dates for the internship program.

What Does It Take to be a Maintenance Coordinator Intern?

Below are the minimum qualifications for the Dawn Inspire Internship Program.

• Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree, with an interest in working in the Consumer Product Goods or Food industry. Current academic status must reflect good performance in relation to institutional academic standards.
• Strong interest in manufacturing operations.
• Ability to develop, organize, and manage task schedules.
• Ability to develop, organize, and manage complex parts inventory.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong computer skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
• Adaptability and willingness to embrace feedback and eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
• Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: Wheat/Gluten, Soy, Egg, Milk, Peanut, Treenut, and Sesame Seeds

What You'll Do as a Maintenance Coordinator Intern

• Conduct research on assigned topics and present findings to the team.
• Collaborate with team members to brainstorm ideas and contribute to problem-solving efforts.
• Shadow and learn from experienced professionals in your field of interest.
• Actively seek opportunities to learn and develop new skills relevant to your career goals.
• Take initiative to suggest process improvements and contribute innovative ideas.

• Identified projects that you will be responsible for:
  • Preventative Maintenance scheduling, tracking, and follow up.
  • Parts inventory cataloging, monitoring, system migration.
  • Manufacturing process equipment review for critical parts identification.

• Required to use motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity.
• Required to exert physical effort in handling objects up to 50 pounds.
• Normal setting for this job will be a combination of manufacturing laboratory and production floor environment.
• Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: Wheat/Gluten, Soy, Milk, and Egg.
• All PPE requirements are to be worn while inside the Plant (hairnets/safety boots/ smock must be worn)

Compensation:

Undergraduate - $25/hr

Graduate - $27/hr
