Work Eligibility & Travel Requirements: Hybrid internship - 3 days a week onsite at our Jackson, Michigan Home Office. The typical work schedule is from 8 AM to 5 PM; however, as part of the network team, there may be occasional evening or weekend assignments.

    

Interns will be required to be on-site at the Corporate Jackson office from May 18 - May 21 for onboarding, and from August 4 - 7 for final presentations. These are mandatory in-person participation dates for the internship program.

 
What Does It Take to be a Network Engineer Intern at Dawn Foods? 

Below are the minimum qualifications for the Dawn Foods Inspire Internship Program.

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology with an emphasis on computer networking encouraged.
  • The candidate must be entering their junior year or beyond.
  • Current academic status must reflect good performance in relation to institutional academic standards.
  • Strong interest in Computer Networking.
  • Basic knowledge and experience with routing, switching. Firewall and Wi-Fi experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Adaptability and willingness to embrace feedback and eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Ability to analyze, summarize and solve user problems in a calming manner. 

 

What Will Set You Apart?

  • Some knowledge of configuring switches, routers, and access points.  We generally utilize Cisco network equipment, but experience with other brands of network equipment would also be fine. Often, degree programs such as Network Administration would train in these skills.
  • Apply problem-solving to understand common challenges and evaluate potential solutions.

 

What You'll Do as a Network Engineer Intern

  • Conduct research on assigned topics and present findings to the team.
  • Collaborate with team members to brainstorm ideas and contribute to problem-solving efforts.
  • Shadow and learn from experienced professionals in your field of interest.
  • Actively seek opportunities to learn and develop new skills relevant to your career goals.
  • Take initiative to suggest process improvements and contribute innovative ideas.
  • Demonstrate the “Dawn Values” of Team Dawn and support our culture throughout the duration of the Internship Program. 
  • Identified projects that you will be responsible for:
    • Support Cisco network router and switch replacements.
    • Cisco Catalyst SDWAN configuration enhancements. 
    • Support Cisco Wi-Fi access point upgrades.
    • Network configuration auditing and standardization. 
    • Network monitoring tool configuration and validation. 
    • Taking a first pass at break fix tickets as they are submitted.  Work with other engineers to resolve issues. 
  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation

Undergraduate - $26/hr

Graduate - $28/hr
