Job Purpose and Overview
We’re looking for a Tax Analyst III who takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work and is equally comfortable navigating complex income tax rules in a multi-state environment and leveraging technology to enhance processes.
In this role, you’ll focus primarily on federal, state, and local income tax compliance and analysis. As a senior member of the team, you will work with a high degree of independence, taking a leading role on audits and special projects from initial planning through final execution. You’ll partner with the team to drive automation, strengthen data reliability, and streamline how we work. Work Environment & Travel: This is a hybrid position based at the Home Office in Jackson, MI, requiring in-office presence a minimum of 2 days per week, with the ability to flex as needed. Occasional travel may be required, up to 10% of the time.
What will you do as a Tax Analyst III at Dawn Foods?
- Lead with Accuracy: Prepare and review complex federal, state, and local tax filings with precision and timeliness, including income tax returns, estimated payments, extensions, and supporting documentation, ensuring all deliverables are ready for final review.
- Support Financial Reporting: Prepare and oversee documentation for US income tax provision and audited financial statement tax footnote disclosures.
- Maintain Accuracy in Records: Reconcile various tax accounts to ensure the integrity of financial data, resolving complex discrepancies independently.
- Audit Coordination: Partner with tax leadership to manage federal, state, and local audits. Coordinating the collection of data for IDRs, maintaining professional correspondence with auditors, and providing technical analysis to support audit outcomes.
- Execute Comprehensive Projects: Plan, prepare, and execute escalated tax projects from beginning to end, demonstrating the ability to manage timelines, resources, and stakeholders with minimal supervision.
- Transform Data into Insight: Apply advanced analytics and technology to uncover trends, detect anomalies, and highlight opportunities for process improvement within tax operations.
- Drive Innovation: Lead automation initiatives and efficiency improvements to simplify workflows, strengthen process controls, and enhance data visibility across the tax function.
- Collaborate and Lead: Partner with cross-functional teams and within other areas of tax to solve problems, share knowledge, and support broader initiatives. Foster a positive, solutions-oriented environment while fulfilling tax responsibilities with accuracy and integrity.
- Research and Problem-Solve: Stay current on regulatory changes, research complex tax questions, and play a key role in strategic tax planning.

What Does It Take to be a Tax Analyst III at Dawn Foods?
Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- An advanced certification (CPA or MST) is preferred.
- A minimum of 6 years of related work experience in public accounting, tax, or corporate finance departments.
- Expertise in accounting with significant hands-on experience in federal and multi-state income tax compliance and planning, including nexus determination, apportionment, and state-specific adjustments.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage high-level projects with minimal oversight.
- Experience representing a company or clients in tax audits.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with large, complex data sets.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions.
- Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools, and a willingness to learn emerging technologies to improve data insights and automation.
- A collaborative mindset and a passion for efficiency, automation, and continuous improvement.

Compensation
$78,370 - $122,260 with bonus eligibility
