Job Purpose and Overview
The EHS&S Specialist will report directly to the site EHS Manager with a dotted line to the Regional EHS&S Manager. This position will provide hands on assistance to one distribution center and one manufacturing plant at their assigned location. The EHS&S Specialist will assist the site EHS Manager, Regional Manager EHS&S, and distribution center site leader to champion a continuous improvement culture at their assigned location and will work closely with the site teams, to implement effective proactive action plans to ensure the highest standards in workplace safety and environmental programs/policies. You will help lead the implementation of all EHS activities at your assign locations, including standards & procedures, capability processes, reporting, compliance, and audits. The EHS&S Specialist works with all site teams in the manufacturing facility and the assigned distribution center. This position provides the opportunity to join a dynamic team focused on implementing the Dawn Safety Management System, ensuring legal compliance, and supporting continuous improvement of health, safety and environmental programs and implementing best-in-class systems and metrics. This position is accountable for assisting the site EHS Manager, Regional EHS&S Manager and distribution center site leader to achieve success at advancing Dawn Food’s safety and environmental programs and performance in their assigned region and consistently leverages best practices.
What Does It Take to be a Environmental Health & Safety Specialist at Dawn Foods?
Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job:
- Bachelors’ degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, and Safety and at least 2-3 years of relevant experience or 6-7 years of equivalent experience in lieu of degree, required
- Strong knowledge of local, state and federal EH&S regulations and guidance required
- Prior experience with delivery driver safety preferred
- Prior experience with DOT (FMCSR) preferred
- Ability to travel up to 25% required
- Demonstrating the following competencies: time management, organizational, problem solving, decision making, self-starter, high energy, and excellent communication skills
- Ability to create partnerships, decision making, teamwork, culture ambassador
- Ability to be self-directed and complete work with minimal day-to-day supervision
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work and engage with all levels of stakeholders
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 suite
What will you do as a Environmental Health & Safety Specialist at Dawn Foods?
- Maintaining an up-to-date incident reporting system, assisting with investigating incidents in conjunction with the site EHS Manager, site teams, and driving the completion of corrective actions to eliminate root causes/reoccurrences
- Developing technical guidance programs to identify and remove physical hazards
- Provide support/technical advice to the site for proper administration of EHS programs
- Maintain and receive updates for the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure the receipt and review of lost/missing/new ones as required
- Under the direction of the Regional EHS&S Manager, implementing the Dawn Safety Management System
- Ensure appropriate risk assessments are in place and/or conducted, and follow ups are implemented
- Conducting health, safety, security, and environmental training, as directed
- Implementing site required and corporate directed EHS programs as required.
- Maintaining the monthly EHS metrics (KPIs & KAIs) as well as communication.
- Maintaining safety equipment inventory.

Compensation
$65,380 - $100,690 with bonus potential
