Job Purpose and Overview

As a Junior Product Developer at Palmela, you are part of our R&D-Team who plays the key role in creating new products and enhancing existing ones. You will collaborate with internal teams and customers to improve our products and processes.

What will you do as a Junior Product Developer at Dawn Foods:

• Supporting the senior Product Developers in developing new products as detailed on product briefings
• Working with Senior Developers to learn the requirements for all system information and documentation for a new product launch or change
• Developing knowledge and gaining experience of how to complete product costs in SAP
• Sourcing new ingredients and briefing suppliers with requirements e.g. reduced sugar, palm free, and adhering to Dawn requirements (vegetarian, HALAL suitable, nut free, etc)
• Preparing customer samples either for own projects or when working with developers
• Ensuring all product samples meet quality and regulatory compliance guidelines, such as IFS/BRC, ISO 9001, and HACCP
• Occasionally attending customer visits together with developer and sales colleagues to present samples, gain feedback, answer questions on the sample make-up
• Compliance with hygiene standards and food safety in the laboratory

What does it take to be a Junior Product Developer at Dawn Foods:

• Knowledge in food sector with practical knowledge as a baker, confectionary or chef
• Ideally 2-3 years’ experience in food manufacturing with a strong affinity for sweet or savory bakery products
• Bachelor`s degree in Food Technology or a related field
• Basic knowledge of ingredients and their function in a recipe
• Some recipe formulation experience ideally within bakery
• Ability to work both independently and in a team orientated, collaborative environment
• Fluency in Portuguese and good knowledge of written and spoken English
• Experience in working with MS-Office
